Deadly Ponies’ Voyage Campaign is All-Inclusive (2021)
Men or women, Australian or New Zealander, alien or bread person, Deadly Ponies Voyage collection is always inclusive. Hailing from New Zealand, accessory brand Deadly Ponies has launched its first ever unisex travel collection celebrating the explorer within.
Described as “strong and utilitarian,” the Voyage collection fits both work and travel. As the contemporary traveller forgoes traditional luggage and adopts any location as a workspace, Voyage can act as the ultimate companion.
Voyage is inspired by military designs, which is surprising when you consider just how chic the accessories are. New silhouettes include Monkey – a structured, versatile shape worn as a backpack, belted on the waist or looped to create a double Monkey. The Astrix Backpack is functional and versatile, with a convertible strap that switches from a backpack to a messenger with ease.
Voyage is available in Black and Saddle leather with Croc-embossed leather highlights. Other products make use of a wooden ornament, intricately carved and shaped like a crocodile. Elements of the crocodile are then woven into the collection.
I’m getting to that bizarre imagery. Deadly Ponies coordinated with several New Zealand creatives to inspire the 2018 Voyage campaign. Long-time friend and artist Richard Maloy used his offbeat talents to make the cardboard alien figure, while Sculptor Grant Bailey chipped away at his otherworldly creation, chiselling a mask from native timber. The face is both sinister and stoic. The co-creators of Auckland’s newest and most authentic modern bakery, Daily Bread, created a Knight’s armour entirely out of bread.
